People are being urged to unleash their inner superheroes and show their support for a charity walk taking place in Enfield.

Walkers who take part in The Nightingale Cancer Support Centre’s Night Hike will be invited to dress up in capes, masks and leggings, as this year’s theme is superheroes.

The 15km walk through the streets of Enfield, which is being sponsored by Fairview New Homes, will take place on Friday 12th May.

Walkers will set off from the Civic Centre, Silver Street, at 8pm.

Joan Kearns, Services and Development Director at The Nightingale, said: “Last year’s fairy-themed night hike was a big success, and we’re hoping that this year’s superheroes theme will be just as popular.

“We’re looking forward to seeing plenty of capes, masks and leggings on show – all in the name of charity.

“The walk is good fun and we’re urging people to sign up with their family and friends to help raise as much money as possible.

“Fairview’s kind sponsorship has covered the cost of organising and running the event – meaning that all of the money raised will go straight towards our work with patients, relatives, carers and friends of those who are affected by cancer.”

The Nightingale was set up in 2002 and provides services ranging from courses, educational workshops, counselling and lymphoedema services to support groups, yoga sessions and make-up masterclasses.

The charity is based at The Lancaster Centre in Lancaster Road, Enfield – opposite the head office of housebuilder Fairview – and walkers will pass both organisations on the Night Hike’s route.

Jeremy Gee, Main Board Director at Fairview, said: “The Nightingale offers vital services to the community in Enfield and continues to help many people through difficult times.

“We were happy to help the charity by sponsoring this year’s Night Hike, and I’d urge people to sign up to show their support.

“We look forward to seeing superheroes descend on Enfield for the evening on Friday 12th May.”
