Scouting out locations across London where buyers will aspire to live is all part of the day job for Danny Sawyer.

And his property knowledge was put to good use when it came to finding his own first home with partner Ania D’Agostino.

The couple were renting a home in Muswell Hill and were keen to get onto the property ladder in the north east of the capital.

After a fruitless search for a suitable second hand home, Danny and Ania turned their search towards new build.

They chose a 2-bedroom apartment at Essence, located just off Kingsland High Street – a development by Fairview New Homes, where 28-year-old Danny works in the land department.

Danny and Ania made use of the London Help to Buy scheme to buy their home at Essence with a 5% deposit, 55% mortgage and a 40% government equity loan.

Danny said: “We started out looking at second hand properties across North London, and after searching for about 6 months, we couldn’t find anything within our price range that we wanted.

“We quickly realised that using Help to Buy and choosing a new build home was the best way to go and that’s when we looked at Essence.”

Located between the bustling, vibrant neighbourhoods of Stoke Newington and Dalston, Essence was ideally located for work and leisure for Danny, who is based at Fairview’s head office in Enfield, and Ania, 30, who works as a marketing manager in the City.

Danny said: “Essence is in an ideal location – Stoke Newington is a fun place to be.

“We love going to Del 74, which is literally just around the corner on the Kingsland Road and serves delicious tacos. Untitled in Kingsland Road is one of our favourite bars, and the food is excellent at The Good Egg in Stoke Newington Church Street.

“It’s also handy being so close to Dalston Kingsland and Dalston Junction stations for our commutes to work.”

As Essence is one of Fairview’s Prestige developments, the specification of Danny and Ania’s home includes oak flooring throughout the living areas, while the kitchen features contemporary high gloss white units and integrated appliances.

Danny said: “The quality is superior to other new builds we had looked at and we felt it was very good value for money.

“We really like the layout of our apartment. We have an open-plan kitchen diner and an outdoor balcony which is great for entertaining, as well as two bathrooms and plenty of storage space. It’s been really well designed and feels nice and homely, and the fact that we’ve bought new means we’ve been able to put our own stamp on it.”
