A mother-of-three from Buntingford will take on one of the biggest challenges of her life when she tackles her first ever marathon this month.

Ellouise Watling is running the London Marathon on Sunday 22nd April in aid of the Children with Cancer UK charity, which raises awareness and funds research to support families dealing with childhood cancer.

With an ambitious fundraising target of £2,000, the 33-year-old was given a boost to meet her goal by Fairview New Homes, the developer building homes at The Village off London Road, where Ellouise lives with her husband Ben and children Summer, 9, Lola, 7, and Artie, 2.

Ellouise said: “I have been overwhelmed at the level of support I have received from individuals and groups all across Buntingford. I didn’t know if I’d reach my final goal which was to raise £2,000 for the Children with Cancer UK charity, but now I have it has made me doubly determined for the London Marathon.

“We had been holding various fundraising events ahead of the race which went a long way to help reach the total we wanted, but Fairview’s contribution means we have hit the magic number which feels great. I’m very grateful for their kind gesture.

“I’m now looking forward to finishing my training and getting on with the marathon on 22nd April, and I’m hoping that the thought of all the money we are raising will keep me going right until the end.”

Ellouise’s other fundraising activities in Buntingford have included an Easter party at the Seth Ward Community Centre, which raised almost £600 towards her target.

Jeremy Gee, Main Board Director for Fairview, said: “Once we heard that Ellouise was taking part in this year’s London Marathon, we were only too happy to help her towards achieving her £2,000 target.

“She is raising money for a very worthy cause and we wish her all the best for the race on April 22nd.”
