With high-flying careers in business, Ashish and Ruchita Saxena know all about the importance of making the right call.
So when it came to one of the biggest decisions of all – buying their first home – the brother and sister were never going to be anything other than completely methodical in the search for their perfect property.
Having both left their native India to study at London Business School, the pair settled in St John’s Wood, where they lived in a rented apartment for 4 years.
Getting onto the housing ladder was always the goal for Ashish, 43, the general manager of a global packaging company, and Ruchita, 33, a business development executive.
And their long search for a property which met their exacting criteria finally led them to Thirty2, a landmark development on Lawn Road in Hampstead by Fairview New Homes, where they purchased a 2-bedroom apartment.
Chief on the list of the pair’s requirements was a good location, and with Hampstead Heath Overground station and Belsize Park Underground station – which Ruchita uses for her daily commute to work in Canary Wharf – both just a short walk away, Thirty2 certainly ticked that particular box.
“We considered a lot of different factors when looking for a home to buy”, explained Ruchita.
“Location was a big factor. In our previous home we were near to Regent’s Park so we wanted a property that was close to a big park like Hampstead Heath. Thirty2 is in a great location for the park and the Tube.
“We like the fact that it is close to Hampstead High Street and the GP surgery on Fleet Road, and it’s also convenient for going to the gym and M&S Food, which are both nearby on Pond Street.”
Another key consideration was the high specification of the apartments at Thirty2, which was a cut above the other properties they had viewed in the area.
“We had been living in a very old apartment which had quite a lot of issues with the plumbing and heating, so we could certainly see the advantages of a new build.”
The Thirty2 development features a striking curved design inspired by the nearby Grade I listed Isokon building – but it was the interior of the show apartment which initially grabbed Ruchita’s attention.
“We really liked the whole apartment. It was bright, well-presented, and we particularly liked the fact that it had 2 bathrooms and a balcony. We were immediately impressed and after that first visit we were convinced that it was the right home for us to buy.”
Ashish and Ruchita were among the final buyers to move in at Thirty2, a development of 72 apartments which is now sold out.
Located on Lawn Road, close to the junction of Fleet Road, the development is a 5-minute walk from Belsize Park station – from where trains reach Leicester Square in 13 minutes – while Hampstead Heath Overground station is only a 6-minute walk away.
Hampstead Heath is 0.3 miles to the north of Thirty2, while the tree-lined streets of Hampstead, with their boutiques, artisan bakeries, traditional pubs, coffee shops and restaurants, are just under a mile away.
Ruchita added: “We are both very picky so we thought long and hard before we committed to buying and we’re very happy with the decision we made. We really like the apartment, the building, the surroundings and the location.”
