Tired of the same flipping routine each and every Shrove Tuesday? Try a twist on the traditional choices this Pancake Day.

Ham and cheese pancake

If you don't have much of a sweet tooth, try a savoury pancake to satisfy your hunger.

From fridge to plate in less than 20 minutes, try folding your pancakes into four, and stuffing with melting grilled cheese and strips of cooked ham - follow this BBC Good Food method.

Gluten-free pancakes

For those who are keen to continue their 'new year, new me' diet, a gluten-free pancake will still allow you to take part on Shrove Tuesday.

The guide to the 'perfect gluten-free pancake', along with a lot of choices of syrup, can be found in Laura Fuentes' recipe guide.

Crepes Suzette

The slinky sibling to the traditional pancake, a crepe is an altogether more flexible delicacy.

Crepes Suzette can be created by making a sweet orange syrup which is then drizzled over fresh, warm crepes.

Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson describes Crepes Suzette as "the queen of retro desserts" in her recipe.

Quesadilla pancakes

A twist on a traditional Mexican dish, add peppers, cheese and tomato to your pancake while it's cooking, before topping with a second pancake and slicing into quarters.

This BBC Good Food receipe suggests serving with a spicy bean, avocado and chilli relish.
