1 August 2017 | Location

A whole host of events are taking place in the capital this August, including lots on the bank holiday weekend at the end of the month. Here are four events for you to try.

Notting Hill Carnival

London’s biggest street party, the Notting Hill Carnival, returns with all of its Caribbean flair for the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Parades, dancers and performers, brass bands and calypso music will all be part of the festivities in West London from the 26th to the 28th of August.

FILM4 Summer Screen at Somerset House

Film buffs looking for a cinema experience in one of London’s most stunning locations can take a trip to Somerset House for Film4 Summer Screen between the 10th and 23rd of August.

A huge range of films will be screened across the two-week festival, including triple Oscar-winner Moonlight, All the President’s Men and Jaws.

IAAF World Athletics Championships 2017

Some of the world’s top athletes, including the fastest man on the planet, Usain Bolt, will descend on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for the 2017 IAAF World Championships.

As well as all of the events at the Olympic Park in Stratford, you can also take to the streets of Central London to cheer on competitors in the Marathon and Race Walk.

BBC Good Food’s Feast

Treat your taste buds by popping along to BBC Good Food’s Feast at Hampton Court Palace from the 26th to the 28th August.

Pick up top tips from some of the UK’s top chefs, including Michel Roux Jr and MasterChef star John Torode, as they perform live cooking demonstrations, or indulge in the abundance of food stalls and bars.
