Are you a habitual breakfast-skipper? It's often referred to as the most important meal of the day, so don't miss it - here are our suggestions to help you start the day off right.

If it's good enough for Goldilocks then it's perfect for your filling winter breakfast.

Don't fancy it plain? Mix in chai seeds, nuts or good old golden syrup.

Don't feel like eating dairy? Coconut milk will add to the flavour of the oats.

Peanut butter and banana toast

If you’re an early riser who prefers a morning work-out, peanut butter with sliced banana on toast is the breakfast for you.

It's packed with protein and you'll get an energy boost from the banana.

Fruit salad with yogurt

This classic breakfast doesn't need to be boring - instead of the usual apple, banana and grapes, try using pomegranate, lychee and fig to spruce up your breakfast.

Get more creative by swapping plain yogurt for flavoured - but be sure to keep an eye on the sugar content.

Homemade granola

Shop-bought granola can be much more sugary than you'd expect, so plan ahead and try making your own.

Try following a simple recipe like this honey granola recipe from

Poached, scrambled or boiled, eggs have many health benefits and will keep you full until lunchtime.

For something new, you could make a breakfast frittata - a baked omelette - like this Full English frittata from BBC Good Food.
