Fancy whipping up your own festive treats in the kitchen this Christmas? Make one of these classics - or try making a festive favourite with a twist.

Christmas pudding

Classic: BBC Good Food has made the process of making a Christmas pudding easy with its 7-cup Christmas pudding recipe. It can be made 2 to 3 weeks in advance and frozen in the bowl, ready to be thawed, reheated and eaten.

With a twist: For something a bit different, try a Dark Chocolate and Cherry Christmas Pudding.

Panettone

Classic: Make your own fluffy Italian sweetbread with this recipe from Delicious Magazine.

With a twist: Jamie Oliver has created his own take on panettone with his Bread and butter panettone tart recipe.

Mince pies

Classic: Delia's Easy Mince Pies use ready-rolled shortcrust pastry - or, if you have time to spare, follow her Traditional Mince Pies recipe.

With a twist: If you like mincemeat but you're not keen on mince pies, try making Mary Berry's Mincemeat Loaf Cakes.

Yule log

Classic: Nigella Lawson's Yule Log recipe is classic and delicious.

With a twist: Edd Kimber, the inaugural winner of the Great British Bake Off, has created a Caramel chocolate log which is drizzled with white chocolate - a real treat for the tastebuds!
