Transport for London has just unveiled its 'walk the tube' map, showing the walking time in minutes between stations on each line.

Here, we take a look at some of the attractions you can enjoy if you swap the tube for travelling on foot.

Charing Cross to Embankment

By tube: One stop apart on both the Northern and Bakerloo lines

On foot: 3 minutes (see map)

Swap the tube for walking and enjoy these sights and stop-offs:

Monument to Tower Hill

By tube: One stop on the Circle and District Lines

On foot: 10 minutes (see map)

Swap the tube for walking and enjoy these sights and stop-offs:

  • Visit The Monument to the Great Fire of London, at the junction of Monument Street and Fish Street Hill - 61m from the spot where the Great Fire began in 1666. Pay to enter, climb the 311 steps and take in the views of London  
  • Visit 20 Fenchurch Street, the skyscraper known as the Walkie Talkie Building, and visit its Sky Garden
  • Tuck in to ribs and burgers at London BBQ restaurant Bodean's, Tower Hill
  • Walk through Trinity Square Gardens, a small park near to the Tower of London and Tower Hill station

South Kensington to Sloane Square

By tube: One stop on the Circle and District lines

On foot: 17 minutes (see map)

Swap the tube for walking and enjoy these sights and stop-offs:

Hampstead Heath to Finchley Road & Frognal

By tube: One stop on the London Overground

On foot: 21 minutes (see map)

Swap the tube for walking and enjoy these sights and stop-offs:

  • Take a trek up Parliament Hill to take in the stunning views of London
  • Discover the beauty of poetry by visiting Keats House, the former home of the Romantic poet John Keats, which is now a museum and literary centre
  • Delve into the world of Sigmund Freud at the Freud Museum, located in the psychoanalyst's former home in Maresfield Gardens (pictured above)
  • Stop off for a snack at artisan bakery Maison Blanc, Hampstead High Street

Oxford Circus to Tottenham Court Road

By tube: One stop on the Central Line

On foot: 9 minutes (see map)

Swap the tube for walking and enjoy these sights and stop-offs:

  • Shops! Oxford Street is the home of shopping, and this stretch of the street includes the flagship Topshop and Topman store
  • Extend your route to drop by Liberty, the famous department store
  • Enjoy theatre and live music at the London Palladium, Argyll Street
  • Head to Soho Square to get away from the crowded streets in Soho Square Gardens
