The land at Epping Forest College and Borders Lane Playing Fields, Loughton.

Fairview New Homes has completed the purchase of two sites in Loughton. The site of the former Epping Forest College and Borders Lane Playing Fields, both of which are located along Borders Lane in Debden, Loughton.

The Enfield-based developer has acquired the two sites, which total approx. 14.76 acres combined. Both sites have been allocated within the Epping Forest Local Plan for residential development.

The first site comprises an area of approx. 2.96 acres and was formerly the site of Epping Forest College until 2011. The College continues to operate from its main campus adjacent to the site. The second site, known locally as Borders Lane Playing Fields is vacant playing fields which comprise a total of 11.8 acres.

This is the second acquisition of 2019 in Essex by Fairview New Homes, following the purchase of the former Blood Donation Centre in Brentwood earlier this year.

Jon Spring, Land Director for Fairview New Homes, said: “Whilst the residential markets are undoubtedly subdued, we continue to look beyond this and feed our development pipeline well into the next five years. We are pleased to have acquired this site which has excellent potential for development.

“The very convenient location, with excellent transport links to London make it an excellent site for new homes and we will now progress an application to secure planning permission."

“We have a successful track record in unlocking the potential of derelict sites to deliver new housing and we are continuing to seek further land opportunities across London and the South East.”
